Support group receives Mother's Day cash boost
A SUPPORT group for parents and children who are close together in age is celebrating a bumper Mother’s Day present.

‘2 Close Together’ was chosen to receive the latest £250 Carbon Stoppers cheque from the Daily Echo and Yellow Buses.
Each week Yellow Buses holds a ‘Thank You Thursday’ when every trip taken on the day contributes to a separately administered Community Chest.
Yellow Buses has pledged a minimum donation of £50 per week to the fund which is available to schools, community groups and good causes in its coverage area. Echo readers are invited to nominate worthy recipients.
The 2 Close Together cheque was the direct result of passenger trips on Yellow Buses each Thursday in February and, additionally, on Mothering Sunday, March 14.
Lisa Trayler, who co-founded the group with Sarah Kenway in 2003, said: “We’re thrilled that 2 Close Together was nominated to receive this money.”
2 Close Together meets each Wednesday at Wesley Hall, Wesley Road, in Parkstone, Poole and attracts between 15 and 22 children, plus parents.
Carbon Stoppers was jointly launched by Yellow Buses – named Shire Operator of the Year at the 2009 UK Bus Awards - and the Daily Echo in 2008. Carbon Stoppers was also ‘highly commended’ at the 2009 UK Bus Awards.
Carbon Stoppers is believed to be the first initiative of its kind in the UK bus industry. It is heavily promoted on Yellow Buses’ 110-strong fleet, used by more than 13m passengers per annum, and its website.
To date, a total of £3,850 has been raised.
Other good causes to benefit include Bournemouth Talking Newspaper, Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, Cherry Tree Nursery, Life Education Wessex, Hospital Radio Bedside, Waggy Tails Rescue, Bournemouth People First, Nile 20, Rebound Gym Club, Caring Canines, Pink Champagne Dragon Boat Team, S.P.R.I.N.G, Bournemouth Food Bank, Help & Care and thehub Goes Global.
