Global award for Transdev Yellow Buses

TRANSDEV Yellow Buses (TYB) has beaten off global competition to win a top marketing award from its parent company.

The Bournemouth-based bus operator scooped the 2008 Transdev ‘Marketing Innovation Challenge’ Award at a ceremony in Paris.

Entries for the contest were received from Transdev operations across the world, including Australia, Italy and France.

However, judges decided TYB’s submission – highlighting the company’s successful relaunch as the ‘Brighter Bus Company’ in 2006 – should receive top honours.
One of the judges, Colin Sellers, Transdev’s Corporate Service Director, said: “The win is recognition for the truly innovative and successful changes made to the TYB network and rewards all the hard work and effort put in by the team involved in the project.”

The ‘Marketing Innovation Challenge’ is the third major award to be won by TYB in the last six months.

Earlier this year the company’s coach arm, which operates services from Bournemouth and Poole to London and Heathrow, was named as the UK’s top operator in the 11-15 vehicle category of the National Express 2007 Network Awards.

And in December the company won the ‘Transport Initiative’ category at the annual Bournemouth Tourism Awards. Judges highlighted TYB’s success in providing a modern tourist friendly network which had seen passenger numbers grow by 20 per cent year-on-year.

TYB was also shortlisted for the UK Bus Awards in the ‘Bus Marketing Campaign of the Year’ category.

Derek Lott, TYB’s Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted with all three awards but winning the Marketing Innovation Challenge, in the face of intense worldwide competition, is the real icing on the cake.

“I’m immensely proud of a hard-working and talented team who thoroughly deserve all the plaudits they are rightly receiving.”
