Yellow Buses goes the extra mile for mums
ARE you involved or aware of a charity based around mothers? Then we’d like to hear from you!
Each week Yellow Buses holds a ‘Thank You Thursday’ as part of our innovative Carbon Stoppers campaign, held in conjunction with the Daily Echo.
Every trip taken on the day contributes to a separately administered Community Chest.
We’ve pledged a minimum donation of £50 per week to the fund which is available to schools, community groups and good causes in its coverage area.
To date, a total of £3,600 has been raised which has been shared among 15 local charities and good causes.
Now we’re delighted to announce an additional ‘Thank You’ day, just for Mothering Sunday.
It means that there will be a minimum £250 Carbon Stoppers cheque from March available to a charity or good cause based around mothers.
Jenni Wilkinson, Yellow Buses’ Head of Marketing, said: “Mums have a special place in all our hearts.
“We thought this would be a great way of celebrating that as well as giving a much-needed cash boost to a local worthy cause.”
Charities, or good causes, which are based around mothers and would like to put themselves forward for the money should email Fiona.pendlebury@bournemouthecho.co.uk Please include a daytime telephone number.
Carbon Stoppers is believed to be the first initiative of its kind in the UK bus industry. It is heavily promoted on our 110-strong fleet, used by more than 13m passengers per annum, and our website.
Carbon Stoppers was jointly launched by Yellow Buses – named Shire Operator of the Year at the 2009 UK Bus Awards - and the Daily Echo in 2008. Carbon Stoppers was also ‘highly commended’ at the 2009 UK Bus Awards.
