Fares on Transdev Yellow Buses to change from September 7th

FARES on Transdev Yellow Buses (TYB) are to increase from September 7 as a direct result of the hike in fuel costs.

Despite the recent fall in oil prices TYB’s fuel costs are still up by more than 20 per cent and the company says that it can no longer avoid putting up fares.

However, TYB says it is “very pleased” that child fares – available to young people up to the age of 18 with a valid CitizenCard – will not increase.

An adult Yellowcard, which allows unlimited all-day travel on the company’s services across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, is to rise to £3.70.

A family Yellowcard, providing all-day travel for up to two adults and three children, will cost £9.

A 7 Day adult Yellowcard will cost £15 but a 30 day Yellowcard remains at £52 which works out at £1.74 a day. The 90 day card offers the best value at £140 or £1.55 a day.

Adult ‘short, medium and long hop’ single fares will rise to £1.10, £1.60 and £1.90 respectively while return fares will be £1.60, £2.30 and £3.30.

Promotional fares continue to apply on the ‘1’s and there are also promotional fares on sections of the ‘3’ and ‘5’ services.

Jenni Wilkinson, TYB’s Head of Marketing, said: “We have held off increasing fares as long as possible.

“Despite these changes and against the background of rising costs for the private motorist, bus travel remains great value particularly if passengers buy our one, seven, 30 and 90 day Yellowcards.”
