Yellows driver goes the extra mile for colleague's daughter

YELLOW Buses driver Ray Jones will be going the extra mile for a very special cause in this year’s London Marathon.
He’ll be running the 26-mile route on April 25 for Robyn Chant, and thousands like her, who suffer from the rare lung disorder Pulmonary Hypertension (PH).
Robyn, 12, is the daughter of fellow driver Lance Chant and Ray hopes to raise at least £2,500 for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA-UK).
“Robyn is a very special little girl and Lance, and his wife Mandy, are lovely people. I’m only too delighted to do anything I can to help,” said Ray.
This year’s London Marathon is Ray’s sixth and he hopes to smash his personal best by completing it in less than four hours.
“I’ve been training hard and I’m really looking forward to it. The atmosphere is just amazing,” he said.
As for the support he has received from colleagues, including Irene Hogan and Barbara Burden who are helping with the fundraising, Ray has nothing but praise.
“Drivers can come over sometimes as pretty hard. In fact, they have hearts of gold,” he said.
Robyn’s mum, Mandy, said: “What Ray is doing is absolutely brilliant. We can’t thank him enough.”
