All change as new ticket machines mean the end of Yellow cards

IT’S all change from November 1 as ‘Yellow Cards’ are phased out with the arrival of new electronic ticketing machines on our 110-strong bus fleet.

But don’t worry, Transdev Yellow Buses will still be offering great value travel costing as little as £1.56 for all-day travel* across our entire network with walleted tickets.

Although we will no longer be selling Yellow Cards the existing ones will still be valid until they expire.

From November 1 we will be introducing Smartcards on route 3 and then extending them across our network early next year. They are similar to the Oyster cards which have proved so popular in London,

Below are answers to the three most commonly asked questions about this decision. Please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01202 636000 or email comments@yellowbuses.co.uk if you have any further queries.

Q: I’ve started using my Yellow Card but it still has some time left.
A: That’s fine. You can use it as a flash pass to show the driver as the finish date is clearly shown.

Q: I’ve bought a Yellow Card but I haven’t started using it.
A: One of our drivers will replace your Yellow Card with a new ticket of equal value when you take your next journey with us.

Q: I normally buy a 7 day Yellow Card on the bus.
A: You can still buy a 7 day ticket on the bus for the same price.

Jenni Wilkinson, TYB’s Head of Marketing, said: “Our new machines will make ticketing on our buses modern, faster and safer.

“However, they require a new type of card, hence the decision to discontinue our Yellow Card.

“We can’t do everything at once so there will be a short changeover period while Yellow Cards are phased out and before Smartcards are introduced.

“Our message to passengers is please bear with us during this time. As always, our helpful staff will do everything possible to make the changeover as easy and trouble-free as possible.”

* refers to the 90 day Yellow Card costing £140 which works out at less than £1.56 a day for unlimited travel across our network covering Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.
