TRANSDEV Yellow Buses (TYB) is celebrating a trio of successes for its training department. The team, led by Andy Coe, Driver Training Manager, has notched up three major achievements including:

  • Securing centre approval for the new Driver CPC training with five approved courses ready for implementation from September 10. The Bournemouth centre is one of 143 in the UK.
  • Achieving NVQ level three instructor status for its instructors (Paul Cooper, Tim Clyde and Mark Hill) who are now on the GoSkills register for qualified PCV instructors.
  • Gaining membership of the prestigious Institute of Advanced Motorists award for commercial vehicles.

The training department is now fully prepared for the implementation of an EU directive requiring all category C and D licence holders to take part in 35 hours retraining every five years.

The retraining is compulsory in order for licence holders to keep their entitlement to drive professionally.

The directive comes into force across all EU member states this year for bus drivers and 2009 for lorry drivers.

Derek Lott, TYB’s Managing Director, who presented certificates to the training team, said: “Congratulations to Andy and his team for achieving the professionally recognised qualifications and the training centre approval.

“It is important that bus drivers are able to continue to develop their skills and the new CPC provides the tool to do that.

“Having training centre approval allows Transdev Yellow Buses to continue to deliver our in-house training to staff as well as provide this important training to other operators.”
