Romantic Lynne triumphs in contest to 'beat the bus bard'
POOLE mother-of-three Lynne Maule was presented with flowers and chocolates after winning a contest to ‘beat the bus bard’.

A poem written by the self-confessed romantic was chosen to appear in 3,000 Valentine cards presented to passengers by Yellow Buses.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have won. I couldn’t believe the news,” said Lynne who has been married to husband Angus for 33 years.
Yellow Buses challenged budding poets to compose a suitably corny Valentine’s Day poem as part of its preparations for Valentine’s Day.
Since 2007 the company has celebrated the romantic day by presenting red roses and cards to passengers.

Lynne’s winning entry featured in Valentine cards which were handed out in Bournemouth town centre on Saturday February 13 together with 1,000 red roses.
“I am quite romantic. It’s a shame we only have one Valentine’s Day a year,” said Lynne who received flowers, chocolates and a Glo smartcard with 30 days’ free travel.
Jenni Wilkinson, YB’s Head of Marketing, said: “Yet again we’ve proved that the age of romance is very much alive. We had a bumper response to the competition but Lynne’s entry really stood out for us.”
Lynne’s poem reads:
We expect you’re thinking “what is all this fuss?”
We just want to thank you for riding on our bus.
For we would be nothing without you here today.
THANKS for choosing Yellow to take you on your way.
Has it ever struck you there could be a chance
That your Yellow journey might bring you romance?
You could notice someone, then your eyes meet theirs,
Smiling, then some chatter, forgetting all your cares.
Bus’s engine throbbing just like your pounding hearts.
Bus’s bell a-ringing – this is where love starts.
You could end your journey feeling oh so fine
Having met your lovely Yellow valentine!
