TRANSDEV Yellow Buses (TYB) is claiming a national first after staging a strawberry tea party at one of its bus stops in Bournemouth.
The company raised more than £100 for Breast Cancer Care after passengers and passers-by were offered strawberries and chocolate in return for a donation.
According to the charity it was the first time such an event had been held at a bus stop.
Jenni Wilkinson, TYB’s Communications and Marketing Manager, said: “We are great supporters of Breast Cancer Care and jumped at the opportunity to take part in the charity’s Strawberry Tea Fortnight campaign.
“The fact that this was the first party to be held at a bus stop was an added bonus.”
TYB also organises an annual ‘pink day’ in aid of Breast Cancer Care when staff are encouraged to dress in pink in return for donations from passengers.
“The ‘pink day’ has become a firm favourite with staff and passengers alike and we may decide that our strawberry tea party will also become an annual fixture in the company’s calendar,” added Jenni.
