Valid CitizenCard needed for concessionary fares after 10pm

UNACCOMPANIED young adults will need to hold a valid CitizenCard to be entitled to concessionary travel after 10pm on Transdev Yellow Buses (TYB) from this Sunday, May 27.

The company stresses that accompanied children, and young adults with a valid CitizenCard, will continue to be entitled to a concessionary fare and that the new ruling only applies to travel after 10pm.

TYB recently signed up to the national CitizenCard scheme requiring students up to the age of 17 to show proof of age.

Initially it is introducing the photo ID cards on a voluntary basis but the card is expected to become compulsory within the next year.

The CitizenCard carries a full colour passport-style photograph of the holder with their name, date of birth and signature, thermally imaged onto the plastic card for security.

It is recognised across the UK and satisfies the Proof of Age Standard Scheme (PASS) criteria.
