Further investment of fleet by Yellow Buses

YELLOW Buses (YB) has further expanded its fleet with the purchase of seven new Optare Tempo low-floor single-deckers.

The luxury buses, which boast leather seats and wood-effect floors, can carry up to 66 passengers.

Their arrival brings the number of new Optare Versa and Tempos acquired by the UK Shire Operator of the Year in the last two years to 29, costing more than £3 million.

The new Tempos are being allocated across a number of YB’s main routes including the 1a, 3, 4a and 6.

Gary Corrie, YB’s Engineering Director, said the vehicles “came up trumps” in all areas including seating capacity, appearance, fuel economy, weight, lifespan and cost.

He added: “We believe we have made the right choice and we know our passengers like them very much.”

YB purchased 11 Optare Versas at a cost of £1.3 million in 2008 with a further 11 of the larger Tempos acquired last year for £1.5 million.
