YELLOW Buses has driven off with another top national award.
Already Shire Operator of the Year, the Bournemouth-based company has now been named Large Bus Operator of the Year (101-plus vehicles).
It received the accolade at the prestigious 2010 Operator Excellence Awards organised by routeONE, the weekly coach and bus industry magazine.
The judges described Yellow Buses as “a classic example of a bus operator that has placed itself at the heart of the community, raising awareness and garnering support for route changes and its general services.”
Praising the company for introducing luxury buses with leather seats and wood-effect floors as well as its smartcard ticketing and use of Facebook, the judges added: “Yellow Buses really is the brighter bus company when it comes to contact with its customers and innovation.”
Derek Lott, Managing Director, was presented with the award at a gala dinner attended by more than 600 people at the National Motorcycle Museum near Solihull in the West Midlands.
He said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award which is recognition of the efforts of all our staff to deliver the best possible customer service.”
Launched in 2005 this year’s routeONE Operator Excellence Awards featured 15 categories. Other finalists in the Large Bus Operator of the Year section included bus companies in Wales, Gloucestershire, Cornwall and the West Midlands.
