YELLOW Buses proved the Age of Romance is still alive by presenting passengers with cards and red roses to mark Valentine’s Day.
The Shire Operator of the Year spread the love in Bournemouth town centre by distributing 1,000 roses and 2,000 customised cards.
It was the fourth year running that the bus company had organised the promotion and, once again, the reaction from passengers ranged from bemusement to delight.
The Valentine’s Day card included a three stanza verse partly penned by Jenni Wilkinson, Head of Marketing and the bus company’s resident ‘poet laureate.’
The appropriately corny prose included the lines:
“Roses are red violets are blue,
Without you I don’t know what we would do,
We see you at the stop each day
You’re looking really grand
Are you going to work? To Shop or Play?
We’ll stop if you hold out your hand”
Jenni said: “As in previous years we succeeded in bringing some smiles to people’s faces.
“It’s a fun way of saying thanks to people for travelling with us and to, please, encourage their relatives, friends and work colleagues to also get the bus habit.”
