GETTING from A to B by public transport is now even easier for passengers on Yellow Buses (YB).

The company has launched a new journey planner on its website – – with the emphasis on being as user-friendly as possible.

Passengers type in their address, postcode or even prominent location together with the destination and receive a personalised bus route.

They don’t need to know specific bus service numbers and the planner is so detailed that it can pinpoint the nearest bus stops to use.

The journey planner has been developed by Yellow Buses in partnership with Bournemouth-based digital marketing company Base Creative Agency.

Work started in early 2010 with the planner subject to rigorous testing and modification including extensive input from YB’s drivers.

Jenni Wilkinson, YB’s Head of Marketing, said: “We’re very excited at the launch of this journey planner which reflects our image as the Brighter Bus Company.

“It represents a massive step forward in the information we can offer our passengers.

“I’m particularly proud that a bus company of our size can provide such an advanced journey planner. It is the result of a great team effort across all departments.”

Tom Quay, Digital Director, Base Creative Agency, said: “The new state of the art planner uses data directly from the Yellows’ timetabling system rather than the manually created PDFs that have been available up until now.

“We’ve worked closely with the drivers to make it accurate and simple to use and we’re looking forward to receiving feedback from users. We hope it makes planning journeys on the Yellows really easy.”
