Yellows turn green to back eco-friendly fortnight

YELLOWS are turning green to back a fortnight of eco-friendly events in Bournemouth and Poole.

The current Shire Operator of the Year is one of the sponsors of this year’s Big Green Fortnight.

The event aims to promote sustainability and the natural environment in ways that everyone can enjoy.

More than 100 activities are taking place across the conurbation beginning on Friday May 20 with the Eco Fashion Experience at Bournemouth’s Pavilion Dance Centre.

The fortnight ends on Sunday June 5 with the Big Green Family Fit 4 Life Day at the Littledown Centre.

Over 13 million passengers travel every year with Yellow Buses, reducing carbon emissions and traffic congestion.

The company is also the home of Carbon Stoppers where every trip taken on a Thursday contributes to a fund which is then awarded to a local good cause or charity.

Jenni Wilkinson, Head of Marketing, said: “We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible, from the way we operate our fleet of buses to backing eco projects such as Carbon Stoppers.

“Yellow Buses supports the aims of the Big Green Fortnight and we’re pleased to sponsor this community-based initiative.”
