YELLOW Buses is to trial two new school services from Monday September 5.
Routes 85 and 86 will serve both the Iford and Southbourne sites of St Peters School.
The 85 begins its journey at 0730 from Francis Avenue, Wallisdown, and then follows a route which includes Winton, Moordown, Charminster and Springbourne.
It arrives at St Peters’ Southbourne site at 0840 and at the Iford site at 0850. The return journey leaves the Southbourne site at 1525.
Route 86 departs Bearwood at 0730 and follows a route which includes Kinson, West Howe, Ensbury Park, Moordown and Castlepoint, arriving at the Iford site at 0825 and the Southbourne site at 0840.
The return journey leaves the Southbourne site at 1525.
Daily fares are £2 single and £3 return. However, discounts are available for longer periods when purchased with a GLO 17 smartcard.
Yellow Buses is trialling the new services for the autumn term. The routes were previously operated by Shamrock Buses which ceased trading in July.
Jenni Wilkinson, Yellow Buses’ Head of Marketing, said the fares were cheaper than the ones charged by Shamrock Buses
However, she stressed: “Both routes are being run on an experimental basis and we will assess their success, or otherwise, at the end of the autumn term.”
