YELLOW Buses (YB) has been named runner-up in the Shire Operator of the Year category at this year’s UK Bus Awards.
The company, which operates services across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and East Dorset, was competing against six other bus operators to win the prestigious national title.
The result was announced in front of hundreds of guests at a lunchtime ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on Tuesday November 29. Yellow Buses won the award in 2009 and 2010.
The Shire Operator of the Year category is open to bus companies operating service networks wholly or mainly outside the UK’s major conurbations.
Entrants are judged on their performance in a number of areas including customer relations, employee relations, timekeeping and lost mileage, financial sustainability, risk assessment, environmental matters and social responsibility, partnership working and sustaining and expanding the market for public transport.
A total of 100 companies, individuals and organisations were shortlisted from over 250 entries for this year’s UK Bus Awards.
