Flower power: Michael and Christine Jackson receive a Valentine's Day card from Jenni Wilkinson, Yellow Buses

The card included a specially composed poem by regular passenger Alison Nuorto who won a Yellows’ Valentine contest to ‘beat the bus bard’.

Her winning three stanza verse reads:

On this, the most romantic day,

This heartfelt message comes your way,

Because we feel the need to say,

You’re special to us, in every way.

Whether you’re a mother, a student, or an OAP,

If you’re eighteen, sixty, or ninety three,

We’re think you’re great, we love you dearly,

And hope this little rhyme expresses it clearly.

So, as you go about your day,

We hope we’ve sent some love your way.

Now there only remains one thing to say,

We wish you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

Jenni Wilkinson, YB’s Head of Marketing, said: “The reaction from shoppers and passers-by ranged from bemusement to absolute delight.

“This is the fifth year running we’ve handed out roses and cards. It’s a fun way of saying thanks to people for travelling with us and to encourage others to get the bus habit.”
