CELEBRATIONS to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee have officially got underway with Yellow Buses leading the way.
The Bournemouth-based company is claiming to be the first in the UK to introduce a Jubilee bus to its 132-strong fleet.
The Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 sports a yellow Union Jack with diamond silver stripes.
The 37-seater single decker also features leather seats and wood effect floors and was only registered in January this year.
It is running on various services across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Dorset including the Yellows’ flagship 1 route.
Jenni Wilkinson, Head of Marketing, said: “We’ve been amazed at the reaction to our Jubilee bus.
“People have been taking pictures of the vehicle and we’ve had bus enthusiasts across the UK commenting on its appearance. It’s also proved a big talking point on Twitter and Facebook.”
“The spectacular weather we’ve been enjoying has particularly highlighted the livery, and especially the diamond stripes. It’s a huge hit.”
Yellow Buses plans to further celebrate the Diamond Jubilee by fitting an interiors with a timeline celebrating the occasion.
It also plans to feature Jubilee questions at selected stops within its coverage area and offer prizes for people supplying the correct answers.
