New arrival: Derek Lott, Managing Director, unveils the latest addition to Yellow Buses’ 136-strong fleet.

The luxury buses, which boast leather seats and wood-effect floors, can carry up to 70 passengers.

They will primarily operate on the Yellows’ route 2 operating between Kinson and Bournemouth, linking Castlepoint and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Their arrival brings the number of new vehicles acquired by the company in the last five years to 37, costing more than £4 million.

The new bus was officially unveiled in The Square,  Bournemouth, and immediately received the thumbs-up from shoppers and passers-by.

“Very, very nice. I shall look forward to travelling on that,” said regular Yellow Buses’ passenger Elizabeth Wills from Poole.

The new StreetLite Max buses are the latest addition to the Yellows’ current fleet of 136 vehicles which carry more than 15 million passengers every year.

They service 12 core routes across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and East Dorset and a supporting network of lower frequency routes.

The StreetLite Max is manufactured by Wrightbus of Ballymena, Northern Ireland.

Its particular characteristic is that it is able to carry the same number of passengers as a big bus but with the flexibility and fuel consumption of a smaller vehicle.

Derek Lott, Managing Director, said: “Serving such a large number of passengers every day means our vehicles need to offer a high quality standard as well as be able to manoeuvre quickly and easily.

“I’m confident these new additions will be a big hit with our passengers and drivers alike.”
