Yellows turn pink for 2013 charity day

FOR the eleventh year in a row Yellow Buses turned pink to raise money and awareness for a breast cancer charity.

Staff at Yellow Buses go pink for charity.

Drivers, engineers and administration staff swapped their uniforms and overalls for garish garments.

Pink wigs, leggings, shirts, hats, blazers, coats, nail varnish and even hair were on display, making the Yellows even brighter than usual.

Staff also organised a guess the weight of the cake competition, sold raffle tickets and collected from passengers during the day.

Raffle tickets remain on sale until 4pm on Thursday October 31 when the winning tickets for more than 30 prizes will be drawn at the Enquiries Office in Bournemouth, opposite Boots.

To date, the 11 years of fundraising by Yellow Buses has raised thousands of pounds for Breast Cancer Care.

Jenni Wilkinson, Head of Marketing, who was dressed from head to toe in pink, said: “Everyone is so generous and have helped us raise lots of money over the years.

“This year the response from local businesses and attractions to the raffle has been brilliant. They’ve donated excellent prizes to help raise money and awareness.”

She added: “Once again our staff went to town and the passengers really enjoyed it, too.

“It is always a feel-good day and this year was very good and hopefully we’ve raised some awareness as well as money.

“The company is well known for the support we give to a variety of local charities.”
