TERRIBLE weather couldn’t stop staff from Yellow Buses handing out thousands of cards and hundreds of red roses on Valentine’s Day.
For the eighth year in a row the Yellows displayed love for their passengers with the public show of affection.
This year the rain bucketed down, but staff cheerfully handed out red roses, Valentine’s Day cards and packets of Rolos.
Passengers braving the conditions were delighted with the gesture and many now look forward to the annual give-away on February 14.
Yellow Buses’ Head of Marketing Jenni Wilkinson said: “The reaction from passengers and shoppers ranged from bemusement to absolute delight.
“It was a very cold morning with torrential rain and being able to raise a few smiles made it worth the effort.
“It’s a fun way of saying thanks to people for travelling with us and to encourage others to get the bus habit.”
As part of Yellow Buses’ Valentine’s Day celebrations it held a poetry competition, which was won by Helen Shenton.
Her winning entry was:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I would love
To glo with you.
Glo by day
Or glo by night
I know my journey
Will always be bright.
It’s always a plus
To glo by bus
Make sure it’s mellow
Travel with yellow.
