Yellows will be jiving to the vintage fest

YELLOW Buses are swinging behind Southbourne’s ‘Shake & Stir Vintage Fest by the Sea’ as official transport partners.

The buses will be taking passengers back in time to the event that is a celebration of everything from the 1940s and 1950s.

On Saturday June 21 and Sunday 22 there is free fun for everyone, including military vehicles, food and drink, dance classes, a vintage fair and family entertainment.

During the evenings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there are headline acts performing at the Vintage Village and tickets are now on sale.

It is the second annual vintage festival and last year it won a Bournemouth Tourism Award.

Jenni Wilkinson, Yellow Buses’ Head of Marketing, said: “Yellow Buses were busy in in the area during the 1940s and 1950s and we’re pleased to be taking people back there.

“It will be a great festival and we have plenty of services that will be running across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch taking passengers to Southbourne throughout the weekend.

“It’s an ideal opportunity to buy  a Glo smart card top up, so you can travel around much more easily.”

Heather Martyn, who is organising the festival, said: “We have three headline acts performing in the evenings.

“And there will be plenty of free entertainment during the day at Southbourne Grove, Fisherman’s Walk and the Vintage Village on the cliff-top.

“We’re pleased to welcome Yellow Buses as official transport partners and hope lots of people hop on a Yellow and come to the festival.”

Yellow Buses are one of Bournemouth’s oldest companies, having been established in 1902.
