YELLOW BUSES (YB) is to reinstate its 1a service in Somerford, Dorset, from Monday August 1.
The bus company diverted daytime and evening services on June 14 after one of its vehicles came under fire in broad daylight.
A brick smashed a window on a single-decker bus at the junction of Somerford Road and Dennistoun Avenue at 10am.
It was the third attack in the space of a month with YB describing the incident as “the last straw.”
Since June 14, Yellow Buses has been in talks with the local authority, Dorset Police, Somerford Community Partnership and residents.
The bus company says a number of matters have now been resolved to its satisfaction.
As a result it will reinstate daytime and evening services along Somerford Road from Monday August 1.
Andrew Smith, Managing Director, said: “Withdrawing services is the absolute last resort but we were not prepared to put the lives of our customers and our staff at risk.
“We are satisfied that our concerns have now been addressed by the relevant authorities and that our 1a service can now resume its usual route.
“Yellow Buses would like to thank the police, local authority and county council and resident groups for their commitment to working towards this resolution. We look forward to continued partnership working to ensure the return is successful”
