Poole Forum, which is a self-advocacy group for adults with learning disabilities, has received a £200 donation from the joint Yellow Buses/Daily Echo Carbon Stoppers initiative.

Poole Forum is situated at Ashley Road and runs the Go Forum group which meets regularly at Poole College. The Forum has more than 500 members across the borough.

Carbon Stoppers has handed out nearly £20,000 to charities and good causes since its launch in 2008.

Each week the Yellow Buses holds a ‘Thank You Thursday’ when every trip taken by passengers on the day contributes to a separately administered Community Chest.

Kimberley Fields from Poole Forum said: “We’re a self-advocacy group for adults with learning disabilities and rely on donations.

“We aim to help or members be independent, have more choice and control and to be included in the community.

“This money will help us fund our newsletter which allows us to communicate with all our members.”

Terri Hignett from Yellow Buses said: “Many of the forum’s members use Yellow Buses to get around so this was an obvious charity to help.

“The initiative helps small, local charities and Poole Forum does great work within our community.”
