Work to start on new-look Travel Centre for Yellow Buses

Make-over: Yellow Buses’ Avenue Road Customer Service Centre in Bournemouth which is to undergo a £50,000 refurbishment to become an open-plan Travel Centre.

Yellow Buses is to carry out a £50,000 makeover of its town centre office in Bournemouth.

The Customer Service Centre, in Avenue Road next to The Square, will close for approximately four weeks while extensive internal work is carried out.

Contractors are due to move on site in the first week of December with the new-look Travel Centre expected to open in early January.

Services provided at the building, including lost property, will move to Yellow Buses’ Yeomans Way Head Office for the duration of the work.

Customers will still be able to buy tickets for Yellow Buses’ services either through the company’s website, dedicated App or on the bus.

David Squire, Managing Director, said: “Yellow Buses is the only bus operator with a travel shop in Bournemouth town centre.

“The current office is very busy but we expect our new customer-friendly Travel Centre to be even more popular, particularly during the tourist season.

“The refurbishment is a sizeable investment for us and demonstrates our confidence in the future.

“We’d like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience to our customers while the building work is carried out. However, we’re sure they’ll find our new open-plan Travel Centre a great improvement on the existing office.”

Yellow Buses operates a fleet of 140 buses and 16 coaches with more than 410 staff.

The company carries just under 15m passengers a year with its vehicles operating nearly five million miles across the Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and East Dorset area.
